چکیده
This chapter will not provide a detailed description of patch clamp methodology, since this information can be found in many other sources. The most comprehensive description of these techniques is likely to be Single Channel Recording (Neher and Sakmann, 1983). Other useful reference works include volumes edited by Standen et al. (l987), Conn (l99l), Kettenmann and Gratyn (1992), and Bean (1992). We describe how these techniques can be applied to the

The effect of lead (Pb2+) on electrophysiological properties of calcium currents in F77 neuron in Helix aspersa
Ion channels are responsible for control of cell function in excitable tissues such as heart and brain and also in organs and tissues traditionally thought to be non- excitable including liver and epithelium. In the present research, the effect of lead (Pb2+) on Ca2+ -dependent action potential and currents was studied in F77 neuronal soma membrane of Helix aspersa. For this purpose, action pot...

The goal of this study was to determine the effects of the L-type calcium channel blockers verapamil and diltiazem on the currents of voltage-gated potassium channel (fKv1.4ΔN), an N-terminal-deleted mutant of the ferret Kv1.4 potassium channel. Measurements were made using a two electrode voltage clamp technique with channels expressed stably in Xenopus oocytes. The fKv1.4ΔN currents displayed...

متن کاملThe modulatory effects of orexin B on the calcium channels activity in neuronal cells of Helix aspersa (garden snail)
Introduction: The functional effects of orexin-B on the calcium spikes and excitability of the neuronal soma membrane of garden snail, Helix aspersa were studied. Methods: Conventional intracellular recording, under the current clamp conditions was performed to examine the effects of orexin-B on the configuration and electrophysiological properties of calcium spikes. Results: Application o...
متن کاملExistence of a delayed rectifier K+ current in the membrane of human embryonic stem cel
Introduction: Human embryonic stem cells (hESCs) are pluripotent cells that can proliferate and differentiate to many cell types. Their electrophysiological properties have not yet been chracterzed. In this study, the passive properties (such as resting membrane potential, input resistance and capacitance) and the contribution of delayed rectifier K+ channel currents to the membrane conducta...
